Port Forward Connection Refused

Recommended Posts

I have a random TCP port forward on this page https://airvpn.org/ports/ and set the same on qbittorrent (v4.3.0.1). I have Eddie 2.18.9 installed on Windows 10 (10.0.19042 Build 19042) and use Kaspersky Internet Security (20.0.14.1085). I noticed my qBittorrent lost all connections. It can't see anything. I checked on https://airvpn.org/ports/ page and clicked the TCP test and get dark gray circle which when I hover over it, it says
Not reachable on server IP over the external port XXXXX, TCP protocol. Error: 111 - Connection refused

I also created a second forwarded port lefe everything blank (TCP & UPD) and have the same dark gray circle.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

Kaspersky enables and uses its own firewall. The port must be opened there.

Because Kaspersky is not off just because you closed the frontend application :D

Thanks OpenSourcerer. I still haven't be able to get this to work. It has been working as of a couple months ago so I'm not sure what changed. I tried a few different Eddie clients just in case it was that. I updated Kaspersky. I open the port in Kaspersky. I trusted the application in Kaspersky. I tried it without Kaspersky. I connected through a few different AirVPN servers. Are there certain troubleshooting steps I can go through to discover where the problem lies?

Difficult with Windows. But a refused connection usually hints at a closed port, not a firewall intervening (but some firewalls can be configured to refuse connections instead). Are you sure qBittorrent is listening on the correct interface? Must be the TAP adapter on Windows. Do not also specify an IP to listen to because the internal IP changes every time you reconnect to an AirVPN server.

qBittorrent is all default settings except for the Connection preferences. I have TCP protocol enabled and port 40402 used for incoming connections, which matches what is setup on https://airvpn.org/ports/ and used to work. I do not have check boxes on:
Use UPnp/NAP-PMP port forwarding from my router
Use different port on each startup
I don't specify IP addresses anywhere. No special router setup either.

TAP is listed as TAP-Windows Adapter V9 in my windows hardware properties. Is that something I should try to reinstall? In Advanced Eddie settings I see an option to Uninstall standard driver. I only have checks in Force TAP Interface UP and Force usage of bundled plink.exe.

Thanks for your help sir!

In qBittorrent settings > Advanced > Bind to interface or Interface to bind.

I’ll test that out in a little bit, but when I check for an open port on AirVPN port page it says connection refused. So it isn’t very clear (to me) that changing the qBT setting will have an impact. I will try it though!

I set the below settings and it is now working! Thank you very much for your advice and help. Couldn't have done it without you! Is there anything to be worried about by leaving these to Any and All?
qBittorent settings > Advanced > Network interface = Any interface
qBittorent settings > Advanced > Optional IP address to bind to = All Addresses

Well, yes.

Set this to the TAP adapter, otherwise qB will attempt connections on your physical NIC and without NetLock it's the perfect IP leak.
