eddie cli not working on raspberry pi

Using the latest version of raspbian, I've been trying to get the vpn to work using the command "eddie-ui -cli -login=mynick -password=password"
every time I run this command it just says wrong login/password, though I do know the ones that I've put in are correct.
any suggestions?

Did you recently change it? Does it happen to contain special or exotic characters (as in, non-ASCII)?

Nope, no non ASCII and no I haven't recently changed it..

But special characters? Be advised that some special characters must be escaped. Try engulfing the password with "", like -password="password".

There are some special characters, engulfing the password with "" didn't work.
