The police used his IP addresses as the hard evidence to arrest the poor guy.

I think all net users in Japan had better use something like AirVPN to prevent ourselves from being falsely accused like this.

Additionally, if your router is WiFi enabled, protect it against unauthorized access and usage. Do not rely on WEP of course, and also do not trust WPA, go straight to WPA2 (AES-CCMP). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wpa2#WPA2
