To my knowledge home and company is practically the same – it makes Windows find other devices which are sharing things over certain protocols (NetBIOS and SMB, in particular) in that network and be found by other devices. Technically it opens certain ports for others to ping and connect to while pinging and connecting to the same ports on other hosts in the network. If you pick Public, this behavior is turned off. That's all there is to it. It is important to note that this does not mean they are opened to the internet. This must be done on the router or, in case of AirVPN, via port forwarding; though I consider opening SMB shares to the internet quite suicidal. If you get asked this when you connect to AirVPN, "Public" would probably be best. Quote Hide OpenSourcerer's signature Hide all signatures NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER.
