ANSWERED taobao.com most pages suddenly not accessible

Recommended Posts

Hi, was still able to access .taobao.com yesterday but not since this morning, have been always connected to Singapore servers as it nearest for me. If not using airvpn, the site is ok.
taobao.com have multiple sub domain for their different shops and items, seem like only the my purchased page is accessible, but not other shops and items link.,

https://buyertrade.taobao.com  -  my purchased page - most of time ok, some time error
https://s.taobao.com/ - search page - ok
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.0.0.1a85523cvKoLAq&id=571958005148&ns=1#detail - after search, click on the item pages - not accessible, Google Chrome: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
https://world.taobao.com - half of airvpn server failed.

Please check what is wrong, ty.

At the moment, the pages you referenced appear to be unreachable through AirVPN servers. There's a chance that Taobao might have done something to block access via VPN. Or it could be due to some broken JS on their side. The only way to get to Taobao now is to bypass the VPN and go direct.

Hopefully, AirVPN will fix this soon.

Yea, hopefully AirVPN will fix it, or provide a new feature in the client that can easily bypass VPN from domain name or application, have been using AirVPN since July 2017 and this is the first time taobao.com is having problem.

Have you opened a support request? I think it'd be good to do so.

Not sure there anything to fix here from AirVPN side, or at least it will be beyond simple routing.
TaoBao, Baidu, QQ, Sina, RenRen, will have some issues to be accessed for a while from non
CN/HK/TW IP addresses. AliExpress/Ali* services should work as usual.
This is actually a DDoS mitigation thing before you start with theories.
Apparently, somehow, many people decided you can get a top Huawei phone now for ~$100 if
they buy it on Chinese sites. Also the other social media have unusual traffic peaks.
Maybe it is related to trade war or some protests, but just give it a few days/weeks.
Will solve "itself".
