New to AirVPN, cannot get connection to work.

Recommended Posts

I'm new to all VPNs but recently set up AirVPN. So far so good when using it on my iPhone, however, on my windows 10 laptop running the Eddie UI, I have been having several issues.

  • First, I could not get past the 'Checking route IPv4' stage on connection, but I got past that by disabling route checking.
  • Then I got a similar issue with the checking DNS stage. Went around that as well by disabling DNS checking.
  • Finally, I was able to connect to a server in Canada, however I cannot get speeds above a couple hundred kbits/s and I cannot even open airvpn.org to check that everything is working. Basically, no webpages load.

Additional info: this is at a workplace that I imagine has some firewalls set up. However, it does work perfectly fine on my iphone connected to the same network (although speeds aren't great there either 2.75 down and 4.04 up, but that's much better than what's going on with my laptop).

I haven't messed with too many settings. All I've done is install Eddie UI, login, and do what I've listed above. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I applied mssfix and it seemed to help. Download speeds are up around 4-6 Mbits/s but upload speeds still are not over 1 Mbit/s. I can connect to webpages, and airvpn.org shows that the VPN is working. If I could get any help on improving upload speeds, that would be great.

Additionally, I cannot get Network lock to work. What I mean by that is when I activate network lock, I can no longer access the internet and google chrome shows an error that a firewall or something is blocking my connection.

Which settings and protocol are you using for your desktop connection? I am also using Air on my corporate PC and I had issues with UDP which I assume are related to the office network setup and filtering. However, when I use TCP all is fine and I have no issues establishing a connection.

With TCP (try different ports, but 443 should already be fine), you can bypass basically everything from my experience. How is the speed when using TCP (and maybe different ports)?
