ssh under attack after vpn connection

hello daily use airvpn on my macbook and I noticed that once I connected with ssh (under vpn) on a remote webserver and from that moment the webserver receives a bruteforce attempt to access on ssh (Chinese ip ??) ... until at that moment, I connected without vpn and I had never noticed intrusion attempts.
