Problems with Down- and Upload

Recommended Posts

Hello ,
I came to AirVPN a week ago.
Until then, everything went great.
about the German server download 105 mbps and upload 8-9 mbps.
now for 2 days it is running download 30-60mbps and upload 2-3 mbps.
On the PC with the Eddie software, I come to 130/9.
I connected by wlan over a ASUS RT-86U.
DNS 10.4.0.1 and DNS 5.9.49.12.
OpenVPN TPC 443

I have changed nothing and until two days ago everything ran without problems

Many Thanks

anfox

Perfect! Welcome to the Vodafone Completely Satisfied Customers Club (VCSCC™).

Fun aside, it seems to be very common around here. I too suffer from this and something lets me shoot to my full upload throughput (5 MiB/s) for a few minutes before throttling me down to a mere 1.5 for the rest of the connection duration. I was not able to find a reasonable solution. Connections through SSL are fluctuating a bit but are generally higher between 2 and 3.5 for me. Maybe try it out.

They throttle VPN customers on purpose as I read and understand, especially behind an additional router. Complain, write, make a big fuzz and send a nasty letter to the NetAgency (if a 100 000 customers do this it will stop !).

In the meantime tinker around, see if other protocols on your router achieve better results, Otherwise go online with router+vpn plus eddie from your comp ... You could also replace your cable router modem and see if it helps to disguise your traffic. At mydealz.de you may find a bargain router (hint: not advertising anything).

It's not the router, I explored this possibility already.. same thing happening.

Could be random. Currently running on ISP router, but I tried a Fritz!Box and experienced the same behavior. Of course it could depend on your more or less exact location. As you are a Unitymedia customer, I suspect it's western Germany for you and northern for me (Kabel DE).

Also, I live downtown. In a not so small city. If you live in the countryside the conditions are guaranteed to be different.
