Can I connect to my LAN by connecting to an AirVPN server?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

The title doesn't make it very clear what I'm trying to do so I'll go into detail here. Imagine:

- A LAN at A which has established a connection to

- An AirVPN server at B and
- A mobile device using 4G data C

Is it possible to make a VPN tunnel from C to B and send a request from C to B to access the LAN resources at A?

I've found the documentation here https://docs.openvpn.net/connecting/site-to-site-routing-explained-in-detail/, which explains how to access the resources at the server site, although the routing I have in mind differs from what is contained in that documentation.

I can set up a gateway on my LAN as described in this tutorial by IP forwarding and setting up NAT on a device behind the router at A and I presume I will need to set up static routes on the router at A.

Can someone tell me if it is possible to do this?
Can you offer an example of a static route that might allow this to happen?
If this can be done, does it pose a security risk? Will I need to do make any firewall rules on the gateway at A to secure things?

Thanks very much for your help.

No.

In this connection model, devices in one network can reach devices in the other network, and vice versa.

Problem: Devices in AirVPN server's network cannot reach other devices on that or another server. Even if they could, there'd be no public method to set routes.
