Linux Mint - AirVPN 2.16.3 - IvP6 Stuck

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

I am trying to switch over to Linux (due to Windows being an absolutely nightmare). I have been using an older AirVPN version without problem on Linux Mint. I updated to version 2.16.3 yesterday. However since doing this Eddie now connects to a server - Displays "Connecting to [server]". Then "Checking IvP4 Route". Then "Checking IvP6 Route" and gets stuck on this. It attempts to re-try this 3 times and then attempts to restart and try another server.

I have noticed that I can use certain servers (that presumably don't use IvP6) such as the UK's Algedi server. This is obviously limiting the servers I can use. If someone could help it would be much appreciated.

I have previously seen mentioned installing Eddie including the XML file. I however cannot find this on Linux Mint (found it on my Windows computer but this isn't really helpful). Also, I am not sure if this is relevant. But when I installed the new version of Eddie it did not update the old version and instead installed it on top. The old version was listed as "AirVPN" in Linux and the new as "Eddie - OpenVPN GUI". I have since uninstalled the old AirVPN but again could not find the XML file and it seems the user data from this file remains as I have not had to re-enter login information on the newly installed 2.16.3 version.

Logs are below:

I don't really know anything, but have you tried Settings -> Networking and change "Layer IPv6" or other things in there?

EDIT: Or change "Internet Protocol used for connection" to IPv4, IPv6. I think I had some problems if it was other way around.

Dear Keikari,

Thank you for your response.

I tried messing around with all these settings but it has not worked.

It seems that any server that uses IPv6 gets stuck. I am only assuming this from looking at the logs as I try to connect to different servers. Ones that say Flushing DNS" > "Checking IPv4 > Connected" work. Ones that say "Flushing DNS > Checking IvP4 > Checking IPv6" get stuck.

If anyone has any other suggesting it would be much appreciated. I really want to continue to use Linux but this is severely limiting the number of servers I can connect too.

Thank you.

Hello, there was another thread on this some time recently. I had this experience with Eddie for a bit, and I run on Mint as well (atm).  Hope this helps:  https://airvpn.org/topic/28638-wont-connect-at-checking-ipv6/?do=findComment&comment=77248

You may have checked something in Network Manager by accidentas well. This program is a little bit buggy, as I'm sure Airvpn staff can attest to. Make sure "required to connect to internet" settings in NM are not checked. Check syslog to make sure something else isn't going on in real time, for instance, MAC address spoofing not working right. Try deleting the connection in Network Manager and makinga fresh one.
