ANSWERED Suddenly getting security warning for AIRVPN

Recommended Posts

Yesterday (7 June) I was able to connect to AIR without using VPN with my FF browser (60.0.2), today I tried it and got a security warning that AIRVPN has configured their website incorrectly and I cannot connect to protect me.  However, if I connect to VPN I can use FF to access the site.

Has my browser been compromised or is there a problem with AIR?

I'm afraid I have little to say about this, but personally, I can connect to AIR-VPN both directly and over their VPN service without any problems. If you disable HTTPS everywhere and/or Privacy Badger temporarily, does this change the situation for you?

(By the way, I would like to mention that I replied to your last question on the SSH – SSL thread. But because I was a very new then, my posts had to be approved before they appeared. Just for the case you missed my reply.)

Thanks for the reply, and for the SSL SSH stuff too.  I did further digging and finally figured out what it was all about with your input and more internet stuff.

Tried disabling them, no difference.  I noticed I am having trouble accessing other sites that run HTTPS by default, ones that talk about VPNs and stuff, wonder if Canada is up to something?

BTW - I am using HTTPS everywhere and Privacy Badger if they have any effect.

I use the same firefox version + add-ons and received no warning in the past couple of days.

What kind of software do you use to improve internet security? It's not unlikely that it is the culprit. I've had similar warnings in the past while using Bitdefender Internet Security and Kaspersky.

Deactivate any measure that monitors your browser activity and connect to the sites that triggered the warning before.

Tried in safe mode with AV disabled, no luck.  Tried running through FF trouble shooting but nothing.  Then tried on my wife's computer...NOPE.  I can't even add an exception for AIRVPN certificate, the only other option I can think of is manually install the AIR certificate and see if that works.

PROBLEM SOLVED!  About 3 days I changed my DNS to OPENDNS family filter, I guess it figured AIR was porn or something but of course when I connected to AIR it bypassed their DNS.  Disabled OPENDNS and everything works.
