So I've added a forwarded port in the client area.

The test fails with the message "Not reachable over server IP on the external port <port number>".

So to check if the port is actually open I scanned the port on the exit IP and it reports the port state as filtered for TCP and open/filtered for UDP.

 

Has anyone been experiencing the same issue?

Check all the firewalls you have access to first - your local firewall on PC and the router's firewall as well. Filtered means that scanning a port did not reveal whether it's open or closed, no status info has been sent back. It's often a result of a firewall forbidding these replies to be sent back.
