Using AirVPN in utorrent only

I'm on a 3 day trial for AirVPN, and i intend to use it for torrents only. My ISP have obviously blocked my torrent site, so i cant browse the site. So, i need my browser and utorrent to use the same IP. I do not want to use VPN for all my internet activites.

 

So, is it possible to setup my utorrent with socks5 and use the same setup in my browser?

The guide is a bit old, but I think it should still explain well enough. Look through the rest of the thread too.

 

Just to summarize:

 

0) Get the VPN running. The guide talks about using the OpenVPN GUI interface. But you can use Eddie if you do not use network lock. Eddie does not do all of the extra steps needed to split traffic.

 

1) Set up your routing so that the VPN is not used by default, but does allow "source address routing".

 

2) Bind your program to the VPN interface. Unfortunately uTorrent requires the local IP address of the VPN interface, which will change when you change servers. Some people use ForceBindIP to avoid re-configuring  uTorrrent. I could provide a way to run OpenVPN in a command window that uses OpenVPN's NAT capability to provide a fixed IP address. Ask in that thread if you are interested.

 

3) Some programs (e.g. Firefox) do not provide that, but do allow you to configure them to use an HTTP proxy. So if you can run the proxy bound to the specific interface, you achieve the same result. In Windows you can use SQUID under Cygwin as an HTTP proxy.

 

4) If there is a danger of the program falling back to using the real IP when the VPN drops (uTorrent does this unfortunately), then firewall the program from using the real IP, if possible. In Windows, a specific program may be firewalled. For Linux or BSD this is more complicated, but probably won't be needed anyway.

Many people here belong to private torrent trackers and if they hit and run they will get banned. And they may need to maintain a ratio (for which being connectable is important). And maybe they don't want to be jerks. And downloading an HD movie or season pack can take quite a while. Maybe even overnight. Especially if most people leave the torrent without seeding back for a length of time, or most seeders are not connectable.

Yes a good idea,Use Virtualbox its free https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads ,install windows 7 or the os you are using now,then install,utorrent and point it to you downloads/uploads,well uTorrent is potable,all you need to do is copy the utorrent folder,if you have it in program files copy it to the VMs hard drive(You can run it from a network drive too,thats how I run mine,so its see all the same torrents that I have downloaded and uploading.)and run the utorrent.exe from it and network sheare your downloads/uploads.(share you pc drives on the network so your guest PC can see them,and map them as a network drive so utorrent access them.Hope this helps,I am new here so thanks for a brilliant VPN,I like it so far and the price..  Oh don't forget to install AirVPN on the guest OS too.
