Italian Parliament approves controversial data retention law

Hello everybody,

I've read that Italy got a new data retention law stating that they have to keep their telecom data for 6 years.

Apparently that's illegal according to the ECJ, but they did it anyways.

 

So I'm wondering if this might become a problem for AirVPN... if I'm not mistaken, it's an italian company, isn't it?

It's no problem for any VPN provider is that, if necessary just don't use Italy as a hub.

 

Here in the UK the government are in breach of many EU "laws", in fact the Snowden revelations showed breaches in international laws and highlighted espionage against allies, nobody gave a shit either.  Miraculously this system continues to expand and operate, in the form you have pointed out.

 

You know why? Because everyone is following suit as if a new industry has emerged, shortcuts to solving "terrorism" and "serious crime", scrapping traditional policing in favor of systematic espionage conducted by amateurs - a dangerous move.

 

There will always be ways around this (hence why I said it is dangerous), I can't wait to see how the Russian government will enforce their recent VPN legal ban, how long it will be before the UK bans VPN and how it works out etc...
