Can only connect to twitter once using AirVPN

After having no trouble I now find that Microsoft Edge and Chrome freeze when I activate AirVPN and will not show Google which is my Home Page. Just to make it more baffling Twitter will activate from my favourites bar on Microsoft Edge but no other programs.

 

I have reset my Network connections and reinstalled Air VPN to no avail. I know very little about computers and could do with a few pointers...or a good slap ! Everything works fine once I disconnect from AirVPN.

I just  wonder what you want to achieve with a vpn.
