"Experimental" in Advanced Settings

Hello,

 

In Eddies preferences under the "Advanced" tab > "Microsoft Windows Only" section, there is an "Experimental" checkbox which is unchecked by default. I have searched and can not find any reference to this setting. What is it for and what exactly does it do if checked? Someone on another forum brought this up and has made me curious as to its function. Does anyone know or have a link to explain this for me? Or maybe Staff can answer...

Any information will be greatly appreciated   ...

This setting will use a different method of flushing the DNS cache, only on Windows.

So instead of "ipconfig /flushdns" the DNS service will be stopped and started again using "net stop dnscache".

Which way of flushing DNS is more secure/reliable?

Depends on your 3d party software mostly. In 99.9% of times ipconfig /flushdns should work on a clean system, without 3d party software like firewalls.

So if one uses a third party firewall the experimental method should be used?
