10296411 0 Posted ... So I found a guide online on how to torrent anonymously using a proxy. There was a paragraph about how to check wether everyting is set up correctly. It said one way to check wether everything works is to use the netstat command. Using "netstat -np tcp" I get a list of IP Addresses in a column called "Foreign Address". The guide says that what SHOULD NOT happen is that it lists an IP Address that is also listed under "Peers" in my bittorrent client (that's qBittorrent btw). And if it does happen then that means that I'm not actually anonymous. Now it does happen for me. I get IP Addresses using the netstat command that are also listed under Peers. Is that something I have to worry about? I realize that the guide was about using a proxy and not about using a VPN. So is that just normal behaviour when using a VPN instead of a proxy or am I somehow leaking my real IP Address? By the way: ipleak.net only shows me the VPN IP and not my real one even when checking with the magnet link. I am using a forward port. Quote Share this post Link to post
