Connections to amazon, encrypted?

When I check the network I see AirVPN connecting to amazon servers, I know this is something normal to the way AirVPN works, but I see the connections are made to "http". Are these connections to http or port 80 encrypted?, if they are not encrypted and if these connections/data are intercepted by third parties: is it dangerous to us in some way or to attack our connections?. Thanks.
