Asus ac66u wont "activate"

Need help, this place https://vpntips.com/vpn-router-install/

Makes it sound more simple then it obviously is.

What am i doing wrong? I am brand new to vpn, so hopefully we can get somewheres before i say to heck with it and cancel.

try activating the green on/off button before uploading the opvn file

I have the Asus RT-AC66U_B1 flashed with Merlin Firmware which gives you more options, theres loads of help n stuff on the site to get you on your way and don't be too worried about bricking your router as I've found them to be "almost" bomb proof....Links:-       https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/ and https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki 

 

Once I'd flashed the router I had no trouble starting up AirVPN, just uploaded the config files, save them, press start button and that was that unlike the other VPN providers I've tried.

 

If you do go with the Merlin flash and your Asus is a B1 (check on the bottom of the router) you'll need to use the Asus RT-AC68U firmware 

 

PS just for your info I don't get any faster download speeds than 30Mb on a 100Mb cable due to the ac66u_b1 routers cpu limitations so I've been informed but I'm still fiddling with different protocols and ports to try and improve D/L speed
