Connected to AirVPN but given IP will not show various sites.

Recommended Posts

I have officially decided to rely on airvpn as my new VPN.

I run it mainly on my linux (ubuntu) desktop and noticed as I was checking my ip address that it shows my real ip in google, whatsmyipaddress and even airvpns official site but when testing my ip on other sites like duckduckgo and dnsleaktest it shows the ip address I got from my VPN.

I gave the assumption this was due to cache/cookies and other variables that could had resulted in this due to it being in a browser but when I tried my previous VPN surfeasy again on google and whatsmyipaddress it shows the ip address that surfeasy gave me.

Overall am just unsure why airvpn works on some websites and not on others.

Are you using the Eddie client on Linux?  If so do you have the network lock enabled?  I run some linux machines using Eddie and some of my others I write my own firewall rules to block/protect from a broken connection.  With either approach I never see my real IP on anything, not ever.  Something is misconfigured on your end.  Eddie?

Which web browser are you using? If you are not using Firefox with WEB RTC disabled, and geo location disabled, it will show your ip address. Never use Chrome with the vpn you can't disable web rtc. Also, are you using network lock to force all traffic through AirVPN?

I am using Firefox and do have WEB RTC and geo location disabled. Network lock is also enabled to force all traffic to go through AirVPN.

I'm using the Eddie client on Linux and network lock is enabled. I gave the assumption that something may be misconfigured but after going through server to server from the Eddie client I noticed that some do cover my ip address while others don't. When I went to https://ipleak.net/ it would show me on 2 ip addresses which would be the ip given by the server and the other as my actual ip.

Basically I went through a variety of the servers that AirVPN has and noticed that some would cover my ip address and when tested through ipleak it would appear only the ip address given but on many other servers it would not mask my ip address and would pop up both the ip address given and my own ip on ipleak. Just trying to figure out now why those servers that wont mask my ip wont when compared to the other few.

None of the servers ever leak for me with network lock enabled as well as with web rtc, media peer connection, and geo disabled. That is very very weird... maybe someone in staff will see and respond. Something is causing it... can you double check in the firefox configuration that all of that is set to FALSE not enabled?
