Yurinator33 0 Posted ... I can't upgrade to the newest version of Eddie and I can't revert back to the older version of Eddie because I keep getting a "driver installation" error. It's specifically TAP Driver 9.21.2. Is this a Windows 8.1 problem or something else? Would Windows 10 help or hurt? I've been working with the Support Team for almost a week now and they've done everything they can to help. But they mentioned checking the forums, so I'm giving it a go. Any help is much appreciated. Quote Share this post Link to post
IeyasuSawada 0 Posted ... Hi Yurinator, There is a known issue regarding your problem. Due to the fact that I´ve recently faced the same issue here´s what I´ve done as a workaround: (folder location might vary depending on your configurations) Deinstall any tap driver related stuff from the programms list in windows system control Delete the TAP files from "C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows" Navigate to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers" and delete any tap related .sys (for example "tap0901.sys" [!!Careful here!!] (Deinstall vmware or any programms which use and installed virtual network devices) REBOOT your computer (Important!) Install the latest TAP driver standalone version that worked for you (in my case it was "tap-windows-9.9.2_3") REBOOT your computer Install a fresh version of the AirVPN client Launch the client, but DON´T connect (Connecting here will result in the client trying to update to the newer TAP version "9.21.2" resulting in the known error again) Navigate to the client settings and disable the tap driver updateThis will enable you to install the working tap driver again. After this connecting via the latest version of Eddie works fine. I hope this helps. If there are any questions feel free to reply and I will try to answer when I´m online. jobairr 0 Posted ... Same problem as OP with the driver installation error.. Is there going to be an update resolving this any time soon? Although it may very well work, unfortunately I wouldn't classify the above a fix. Quote Share this post Link to post
IeyasuSawada 0 Posted ... Hi jobairr, I´ve never called my 10-steps-procedure a fix^^ Its a workaround which has worked for me to have at least a working tap driver version again. If you´d like to have further information on this maybe the linked webside may answer some questions. As far as I am aware the scenarios in which this issue occurs vary. I´ve read something about it only occuring in windows 8.1 / upgraded windows 10 versions, due to the fact that some guys haven´t managed to reproduce the issue on a fresh install of windows 10. I´ve not tested this, yet. If anyone has information on a official "fix" for this please let us know Best regards Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1442 Posted ... If anyone has information on a official "fix" for this please let us know Install Linux. Fixed. There were (and still are) a number of reports from all kinds of Windows setups about TAP 9.21.x not working properly. I think fixing this depends solely on the TAP developers.
