How to disable status logs on the Logs panel of Eddie?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

When I use the UDP Protocol, a lot of "TLS Error" are shown on the Logs panel of Eddie, 10~20 lines per second, rolling all the time.

So, how to disable this "TLS Error" logs? Because I worry about it will consume large amounts of my macOS memory, thus causing Eddie or macOS to crash.

You don't have to, every OS including OSX is designed to log hundreds of events every second without issues.

You can open Console.app and see how many events you were previously unaware of are being logged, this is normal.

Do you have anything on your connection that might be analyzing UDP packets, such as a firewall? Maybe your router doing "QoS" or "Packet Acceleration"? And does it occur with TCP?

No firewall, No QoS, No “Packet Acceleration”.

In face, I never connect successfully to Eddie with TCP in China where I have worked since 2015 . So, I don't know what errors will happen. However, though SSL/SSH are able to work, but they are very slowly. And then UDP is so fast.

You are in China? And are you able to connect? Because the Great Firewall is likely trying to intercept here, causing the log lines to occur in the first place.

Yes, OpenVPN over SSL is slow but it's working.

Yes, I'm in China now.  The China Great Firewall is the most vexing. You remind me of it. Thank you.

It is able to connect with OpenVPN over UDP/SSL/SSH by using Eddie. OpenVPN over TCP have no effect.

And, I want to know: though OpenVPN over UDP can work and its Net Speed so fast, but it generate a lot of "TLS Error" per second. So, does it affect system performance or eat large amounts of memory?

For a computer, logging is as natural as breathing is for you, so to say. After a certain amount of log lines, the oldest ones are overridden. This concept is called a ring buffer: Fixed amount of memory, still enough log lines to troubleshoot shit.

But I'm a bit amazed that "plain" UDP is actually working for you. These forums report that this never works. You may post some speed or torrenting tests with UDP and SSL, if you like. Linux torrents like Ubuntu, Mint and Debian work best, I believe.

Hi, Treiberschreiber and zhang888.

Thanks for your reply. you make me understand how ring buffer runs inside airvpn.

And I have tested my Internet Speed in China with airvpn(OpenVPN over UDP) from this website: http://testmy.net, getting the result: 1Mbp~4Mbps. Even the Internet Speed only is 1Mbp~4Mps, accessing web page or watching youtube is enough. I am very happy.
