ANSWERED error resolving pool 1.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Temporary failure in name resolution (-3)

Recommended Posts

i realize this is likely not an AirVPN issue, but i'm not sure where to turn for help

Mint 18.1

OpenVPN 2.3.10

not using the Eddie client

whenever openvpn is running, the time/name lookup fails with the error:

error resolving pool 1.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Temporary failure in name resolution (-3)

this looks like a time server and when i query the list of configured servers (i forget the command), there are several and so i don't understand why an alternate server is not being used

whatever the case, i cannot use Air while this problem exists

here is a more complete version of the system log...

i re-applied that resolvconf patch and it didn't change resolv.conf so i did as you said and manually edited it

thanks allot for helping with this being this wasn't an Air issue

back to the beginning - resolv.conf is overwritten after suspend or reboot

i also tried adding 10.4.0.1 to /resolve.conf.d/base and restarting and that doesn't work

also dpkg-reconfigure resolvconf to make sure resolve.conf is dynamically updating doesn't work

other 'solutions' suggested simply adding the nameservers to the IPV4 tab of the network manager UI which obviously won't work
