uatavpn 6 Posted ... i realize this is likely not an AirVPN issue, but i'm not sure where to turn for helpMint 18.1OpenVPN 2.3.10not using the Eddie clientwhenever openvpn is running, the time/name lookup fails with the error: error resolving pool 1.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Temporary failure in name resolution (-3) this looks like a time server and when i query the list of configured servers (i forget the command), there are several and so i don't understand why an alternate server is not being usedwhatever the case, i cannot use Air while this problem existshere is a more complete version of the system log... 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21186] ntpd 4.2.8p4@1.3265-o Wed Oct 5 12:34:45 UTC 2016 (1): Starting 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21186] Command line: /usr/sbin/ntpd -p /var/run/ntpd.pid -g -u 108:114 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntp[21175] ...done. 3/9/17 6:37 PM user systemd[1] Started LSB: Start NTP daemon. 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21189] proto: precision = 0.104 usec (-23) 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21189] restrict: ignoring line 37, mask '::' unusable. 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21189] Listen and drop on 0 v4wildcard 0.0.0.0:123 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21189] Listen normally on 1 lo 127.0.0.1:123 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21189] Listen normally on 2 enp7s0 192.168.1.100:123 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21189] Listen normally on 3 tun0 10.4.87.135:123 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21189] Listening on routing socket on fd #20 for interface updates 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21189] error resolving pool 0.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Temporary failure in name resolution (-3) 3/9/17 6:37 PM user ntpd[21189] error resolving pool 1.ubuntu.pool.ntp.org: Temporary failure in name resolution (-3) so the OS is querying 2 time servers, but never looking beyond that apparently and i know others are working Quote Share this post Link to post

zhang888 1066 Posted ... Set it to 10.4.0.1, for some reason the resolvconf update did not work on your system. Quote Hide zhang888's signature Hide all signatures Occasional moderator, sometimes BOFH. Opinions are my own, except when my wife disagrees. Share this post Link to post
uatavpn 6 Posted ... i re-applied that resolvconf patch and it didn't change resolv.conf so i did as you said and manually edited it thanks allot for helping with this being this wasn't an Air issue Quote Share this post Link to post
uatavpn 6 Posted ... back to the beginning - resolv.conf is overwritten after suspend or reboot i also tried adding 10.4.0.1 to /resolve.conf.d/base and restarting and that doesn't work also dpkg-reconfigure resolvconf to make sure resolve.conf is dynamically updating doesn't work other 'solutions' suggested simply adding the nameservers to the IPV4 tab of the network manager UI which obviously won't work Quote Share this post Link to post
uatavpn 6 Posted ... sorry to bump, but i'm still seeking a solution and haven't one elsewhere Quote Share this post Link to post
