ANSWERED Trouble starting Eddie client from GUI, CLI is ok.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have been using the program since v2.10, but only from CLI. I have not been able to run the program from GUI, regardless of Linux platform/version or deb/portabel version.

The OS is running virtualized. Debian is preferred, but not mandatory.

Logs are showing the same errors (null reference, GDI+ status: Invalidparameter) on all the Linux distributions.

I'm not ruling out installation errors on my part, so feel free to enlighten me on the correct procedure on latest Debian 8 version.

The metod I have been using to install are this from a post in the forum:

Any help on getting the GUI running is appreciated!

When I first installed Eddie, I clicked on it and let gdebi do its magic. It downloaded all necessary dependencies and I was good to go. It's notable to mention, though, that I use Debian testing and installed 2.11.x.

Hi again,

Thx for answering, and sorry for my late responce...

I was on the latest version 2.11.15 as the log show, but the error has been the same since version 2.10.<low number>.

There must be something I've missed, either in installation (not likely, have tried installing with GDebi when logged in on the server as a normal user.) or in running the application.

There is no difference if I'm starting from terminal with "sudo airvpn -login=<username> -password=<password> -netlock", the SystemArgumentExeption is still coming.

---and there is success!

Since I was getting the same error in the logs, regardless of OS, the only common factor was my server.

They were running on a Proxmox server (=linux flavour) with a noVNC console, so I made a new VMwareDebian 8 virtual pc on my main computer with Win7.

On this one the Eddie client GUI (v2.12.4) was up and running with no hassle.

The solution was to change the display options in Proxmox for the Debian 8 VM from "Default" to "VMware compatible (vmware)". Now the GUI is loading fine without the GDI+ error in the log, at least I can log in and connect to the wanted server in the list.

Now it is time to test other options to see if everything is running as expected.
