API for Port Forwarding

I searched the forums a little bit, and didn't see any mention of this, but something that would be really awesome would be to expose the ability to see what ports are currently forwarded, and add or remove ports through the API, if possible. Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems like a killer feature.

This question has been raised before, not sure what the answers were. I think there were no plans of implementing PnP-style port forwarding but there were plans to code a ports lookup via API.
