Ressource needs and kill switch on manual SSH/SSL in OSX?

Recommended Posts

I have this old mac around, uncapable of running 10.9x and so uncapable of using Eddie. The maximum I can manage is 10.7x

Tunnelblock eats into its resources (RAM, CPU), and is not necessarily always very stable, experiencing regular crashes, connection drops, etc.

L2TP would be great for this system, minimal hassle to configure, but I understand airvpn is not willing to even consider L2TP.

Questions:

Which eats less hardware resources? VPN-SSH or VPN-SSL?

Can they both direct all traffic from all apps over VPN without needing much manual configuring?

Is it possible with these connection types to configure a kill-switch, and how? I do have little snitch, just don't know if little snitch would do any automatic profile switching on these connection types and/or manage to function as a kill switch.

Thanks for helping this noob get airvpn on an old mac.
