DD-WRT running at 1/10th speed with openvpn

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I just got my AirVPN service and decided to dive in without doing a trial which im slightly regretting but hope this is a resolvable config issue.

Im in CT using Comcast 105Mbps service. I can normally get 85-100Mbps from a local speedtest.net check and torrents can sometimes saturate that as well.

In testing with PA and NJ VPN servers, regardless of what port/protocal I try I am consistently getting < 10Mbps from a speedtest.net and downloading test files over HTTP seem to get the same slow speeds.

My DD-WRT config:

The log from last connect attempt (the connection to VPN always works):

Image/log may show different protocol/port but the logs didnt show anything much different each attempt.

Im not sure what to try to identify where the issue is.

What is the router model?

Adjusting the socket buffers to 256KB might help, but don't expect anything beyond 30Mbit from any "home" router.

Its a Netgear R6300.
