Cannot connect to any .co.uk domains

I connect to UK AirVPN servers using OpenVPN on Arch Linux. This has been working fine since I started using it a few weeks ago. This afternoon I cannot connect to any .co.uk websites! It seems to be a DNS problem. All other top level domains that I've tried work fine. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Edit: if I disconnect from the vpn the problem disappears.

It just started working again!
