does a vpn strip out ISP tracking headers?

Hi All,

 

Some time back, Verizon was discovered adding extra characters to the header (?) to enable tracking.  I don't know the exact spying mechanism. 

 

Does using an VPN protect users from this type of tracking?

Hi, yes.

The ISP cannot inject custom traffic into your session when you use a VPN.

The most common interventions are HTTP and SMTP headers, which your ISP won't see.

Wow, I didn't know this! I use Verizon for my cell phone service and home internet!

Do you know if Verizon is still doing this?
