Port Forward to 8080 shows TCP Test yellow

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I have a QNAP NAS and am connected to AirVPN on the QNAP itself (NOT using Eddie or Router config) using "kradsith" guide here (AirVPN instructions at bottom of page 2);

http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=231&t=102248&hilit=vpn+client&start=15

All good! Connected fine and getting good speeds etc.

I have also set up two Port Forwards; 1 for plex (working fine - green TCP Test) and one for the QTS Admin console which by default uses port 8080. However the port forwarding for this port shows as yellow. I have removed the port forwarding to this port in my router but unsure why this shows as yellow. The port forwarding works fine i.e. I can use my own DDNS name with the AirVPN generated port and see my console but concerned that I have a leak as it currently is.

I guess I could try amending the console port from 8080 from within QNAP QTS Console and try fort forwarding again but reluctant to do that until I know why the TCP test shows as yellow.

Some other information which may be pertinent is I have port forwarding in my router for Sickrage, NZBGet, Couchpotato, Headphones, Transmission, (I'm not actually sure if I need ANY of these to be accessible from the internet as suspect they working fine together on the LAN as they are all hosted on my NAS/QNAP).

Could anyone provide me with any pointers, ideas, solutions?

Thanks in advance!

Hi. Thanks for the reply. This makes sense. I added a port forwarding rule to the router for the AirVPN port to 8080 but now the TCP Test shows as Red (I guess this means that I can tunnel in from the internet but also from my real IP. I have removed the Port Forward for the moment in both AirVPN and Router. Not urgent but would like to be able to access my NAS remotely if possible... Definitely not a must. And probably better not to have any more ports open than the one for Plex. I'm a bit of a novice so thanks for the patience.
