wuestenfuchs 0 Posted ... Hi there, I'm using the AirVPN-client for Linux and it's working like a charm. Today I started downloading Torrents with Transmission and everything was fine until the connection dropped after maybe 20 minutes of downloading for arround 5 minutes. The kill switch was not active so data could be leaked. The configuration of Transmission was "privilage encryption". Am I still safe my ISP or any third parties couldn't recognize my IP? I'm frightened to get a written warning from a law office for downloading a copyright episode. Thanks a lot! Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1442 Posted ... I'm frightened to get a written warning from a law office for downloading a copyright episode. Your name suggests you live in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. The chance someone "important" saw your IP in the peer list is not high unless you are "not smart" and use torrents from public trackers. The configuration of Transmission was "privilage encryption". Just for your information, the BitTorrent protocol encryption does nothing to your anonymity. It's there to hide BitTorrent traffic from being detected as BitTorrent traffic if someone checks the packets. It's used as a technique against BitTorrent traffic shaping. Some logs would be helpful here, but I don't think you saved them. Quote Hide OpenSourcerer's signature Hide all signatures NOT AN AIRVPN TEAM MEMBER. USE TICKETS FOR PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT. wuestenfuchs 0 Posted ... All right ! Thanks for your answeres. The GUI of AirVPN is a bit bugged on my actual slow Notebook and only accessable after restart again (never had problems with i7). Where are the logs saved so I can check the file? Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1442 Posted ... Where are the logs saved so I can check the file? They're not saved, logging to a file is disabled by default. You restart Eddie, logs are gone. eyes878 43 Posted ... You are very likely fine if you noticed you disconnected reasonably quickly, however you can prevent this in the future by using the "Network Lock" feature. Quote Share this post Link to post
