mouse1901 0 Posted ... Hi everone,I am new, have no computer skills whatsoever but want a VPN service for my bittorent. I have choosen the 1 euro three day try-out. But the download speed of my bittorent has dramatically declined and when I want to use the internet at the same time it is almost not possible. I tried to find the solution in the faq but most of it is to technical for me. What should I do?(Maybe another provider with a more user friendly for dummies? Also English is not my native language, but I suppose you already noticed this ) Quote Share this post Link to post

RidersoftheStorm 20 Posted ... I am not that technical advance, either; BUT: 1) Preferences-Advanced-General: TCP/UDP buffers, are they set at 512 kbytes (2 settings) To me correlation of bittorrent download speeds have little to do with VPN servers unless the server is experiencing difficulties aka line down or something else.Bittorrent downloads are more related to: 1) How many seeds and peers there are that you are downloading from??a) 1-3 seeds and 1-6 peers mean slower download speeds than 20 to 40 seeds and 60 to 100 peers. supply and demand of bandwithc) also, how many other people are trying to download the same torrent; thus again supply and demand of bandwith. Currently, I am downloading a torrent and my D/L ranges from 0.2 kbs to 60 kbs; there is 1 seed and 2 peers.Another torrent, with 60 seeds and 100 peers; I had D/L ranges from 100 kbs to 2.4 mgbs. 2) Most of the time, I do not see who and how many people I am competing with for those D/L bandwiths? 3) In torrenting, there is high fluctuations in both the D/L and U/L speeds. I seed and I have my speed for both D/L and U/L set at unlimited while others can VARY their bandwith speeds at certain limited speeds (50 kbs to 200 kbs or what ever they decide is their limit).I seed at unlimited while others seed with limitation of how much you can download from them. (50%, 75%); then they cut you off. Quote Share this post Link to post
