That's a very good point.  Anecdotally, I can tell you the following:  AirVPN has servers in the same quadrant of the united states that I live in.  My connection to the canadian servers has less latency, even though I'm much further away from those servers than the ones in my quadrant.

Yeah, it's interesting. I'm on the east coast and download large media files from a french server pretty regularly. I get excellent speed out of the west coast servers. I connect to the new New York server which is closer and my speed goes to shit, lol!  Connecting to one of the servers in France also works out pretty well. You just have to experiment.

NL servers tend to be quicker than UK servers when in UK; I don't really care why
