Beladorizid 0 Posted ... Hi guys, newb question here. Set up AirVPN on my tomato flashed RT-N66U and all is working fine. Chose AirVPN because it allows port forwarding for a small ARK game server I have set up on my LAN for my kids and their friends. The game server requires ports 7777 and 27015 open to operate outside my LAN. So how do I make that happen, I went to the client section to add them but it assigns me a port number like 50123 or somesuch, would I just accept that and make the local ip 7777? Then set up regular port forwarding on my router to get that port to the static IP of the game server? Thanks in advance. Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... In Local Port, enter 7777. 1. If you want to give the friends the IP, give them the REMOTE port, not the local one. If the forwarded port is 50123, the full IP would be 1.2.3.4:50123.2. If you want a more elegant solution, additionally enter a DynDNS name like arktest. This will make sure you are always reachable through arktest.airdns.org WITHOUT entering the remote port. Beladorizid 0 Posted ... Hmmm, i must not be doing something right. If I go to a site like http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ to check ports they remain closed. The site shows my VPN address, but if I check either port 7777 or the port assigned to me by AIRVPN they still show closed. Still having the same issue of nobody seeing the game server as well. Appreciating the help but can you spell it out a bit for me like Im a Dummy? Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... Regarding port tests: A port is only open if the program using it is launched. Is it not possible to change the port in the game? Beladorizid 0 Posted ... The program was open and listening so not sure if that was a factor, and yes I can change the ports the game listens on. Quote Share this post Link to post
OpenSourcerer 1435 Posted ... yes I can change the ports the game listens on Then let it forward a random port for you and set your game server to listen to that port.
