A note when using resolved hosts

When you are using resolved hosts, be aware that the ip address of these servers changes from time to time, so you might find yourself unable to connect. Keep a copy of the original DNS and comment it out in the openvpn configuration file so that you can restore it if you have trouble connecting.

They don't "change" - but some servers are withdrawn while others are added. If you are interested in a very long term connection then you should use something such as europe.vpn.airvpn.org and that will connect to the best server in Europe currently. If they replace all the servers, then that will still work.

 

If you are in a situation where you must use an IP address, then you should choose servers that you know have been online for a very long time. My personal favourite is Nunki in the UK.
