It's because geolocation is enabled in your browser.  It's an opt-in feature, so normally the only way a that site can get that info is if you voluntarily allow the location service to have direct access to your GPS or WIFI data.  Obviously, allowing geolocation to be turned on while using a VPN defeats the purpose, so I'd suggest disabling it.

Chrome:
Settings -> Show advanced settings -> Privacy -> Content Settings -> Location
Select "Do not allow any site to track my physical location"

Firefox:
Open about:config
Set geo.enabled to false

IE:
Internet Options -> Privacy -> Location
Check "Never allow websites to request your physical location"

If you want to take it a step further, you could go into your Control Panel and disable all location services system-wide.  It's in the "Location and Other Sensors" section, under Hardware and Sound.
