Problems with port forwarding...any ideas?

Good afternoon.  I have OpenVPN configure through my DDWRT router and I have the IP routing tables configured per the how to files in the FAQ regarding port forwarding.  The only IP I have behind the VPN is my synology on xxx.xxx.x.99 I have also configured a port forward 9062 here on AirVpn, but it seems that when I use the external IP assigned to the forwarded port I am not able to use information to the application running on that port on the synology.  

 

Also when I check the forwarded port on a port checker it also returns a value stating that the port is not open?  Any ideas on where I went wrong?
