Windows 10 Frequent Disconnects/Loop Potential Fix

Recommended Posts

After some trial an error I think I've found what was causing the recent common issue of frequent disconnect/loops, especially while torrenting. The issue was occurring for me before even upgrading to Windows 10, so I started looking into my antivirus.

1. Open Network and Sharing Center

2. Change Adapter Settings

3. Select the TAP-Windows Adapter

4. Change settings of this connection

I saw there was a Kaspersky NDIS 6 Filter, I disabled it. After a few days of testing, I no longer got the frequent disconnects/loops, so I'm sure its related to this driver. Kaspersky doesn't recommend disabling or uninstalling as it would cause the FIrewall to stop working properly and prevent network attacks. So right now I'm trying some preference changes to the FIrewall.

Kaspersky Settings > Firewall > Network

- make any the TAP-Windows Adapter network to Trusted

Under application control

- set utorrent Network rules to Allow, and Restrictions to Trusted
