Connected to VPN but still broadcasting my ISP IP?

Recommended Posts

I did "something" today while trying to get the built in VPN client on ubuntu 15.04 to work. I somehow totally broke VPN while doing it. The ubuntu client was working fine prior.

So, I followed the guide and I establish a connection to airvpn and it shows up on my control panel. The website shows me connected with an IPV6 address. The control panel says I'm connected as an IPV4 address. I disconnected the VPN connection and ran the client which now does the same thing.

It seems as though I am connected to the VPN but my traffic isn't going through it. How do I correct this?

Before you get connected to any VPN servers, test if your ISP support both ipv4 & ipv6.

Test for ISP ipv4 & ipv6

If your ISP support both ipv4 & ipv6, then test it while connected to VPN servers. If found to be only connected to ipv4, then you gonna disable your Operating System(OS) ipv6. Usually most ipleak are found through VPN that not supporting ipv6 while their ISP and OS support both.
