I never understand why anyone runs Windows who is attempting to preserve privacy, anonymity, psuedo-anonymity or whatever.

Windows and privacy are really mutually exclusive - the 'privacy' terms for Windows 10 make it clear they will access your data whenever they want, steal your encryption key for Bitlocker from the cloud whenver they feel like it (you know, under some BS police state pretense), snoop through your private folders, content of emails, ID your devices with identifers so they can share your personal information with the fascist corporatocracy e.g. where you are going, where you are located geographically and so on.

Windows = windows into your life. Effectively you give consent to police state sympathesisers to be in your loungerooms or bedrooms or wherever else you have Windoze installed on computers. Install linux instead e.g. Linux Mint, Debian, PCLinux OS, Ubuntu or a host of other friendly distros on offer.

We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to protect our customers or enforce the terms governing the use of the services.

...

Not necessarily a bad thing but something you should be aware of. When device encryption is turned on, Windows 10 automatically encrypts the drive its installed on and generates a BitLocker recovery key. That’s backed up to your OneDrive account.

...

The updated terms also state that Microsoft will collect information “from you and your devices, including for example ‘app use data for apps that run on Windows’ and ‘data about the networks you connect to.'”

...

Sign into Windows with your Microsoft account and the operating system immediately syncs settings and data to the company’s servers. That includes your browser history, favorites and the websites you currently have open as well as saved app, website and mobile hotspot passwords and Wi-Fi network names and passwords.

Some of this can be disabled, but so much information flows back to the mothership, and they automatically assume they own your ass and your data with their flimsy legal arguments, that they are beyond redemption. Like an episode from True Blood, somebody needs to stake this Microsoft vampire in the heart...
