Stunnel (openvpn over ssl) connection problems

Can anyone else confirm that there is a problem with the vpn when you use stunnel (Linux)? I followed the directions but upon connecting (watching the output of the stunnel console and the system logs confirms the connection gets established), I can't ping anything, and I see the openvpn connection resetting constantly. I am able to connect in my normal way but the ssl method does not seem to be working at all.
