Restart over and over... and error with Network Lock

Recommended Posts

I am installing AirVPN (the newest Eddie 2.8.8 version) on my Dell Laptop (XPS 12") running Windows 8.1 with all the updates installed.  I have no other firewall or antivirus software installed to interfere with AirVPN.

Every time I try to log in, I am getting a "Checking Authorization..." message, and then "Restart in 3..2..1.." ad infinitum.  I do not have the settings tweaked, configured, or customized in any way.

In my logs, it says "1degree try failed (The remote name could not be resolved: 'auth.airvpn.org').

Also (possibly related), when I try to activate the network lock, I get a "Backup of current rules failed" error.

I also saw a OpenVPN > RESOLVE: Cannot resolve the host address: localhost: No such host is known, followed by an "OpenVPN > RESOLVE: Exiting due to a fatal error" notation in the log.

I have tried so many solutions and just cannot figure this out.  Please help!!!

Thanks,

J

UPDATE: After posting, I noticed that the laptop had some Windows Updates not installed, and so I updated the laptop and AirVPN connected.

I couldn't tell you what "fixed" the problem, but for some reason, AirVPN is now connecting okay.

If anyone still wants to follow-up and/or comment, please feel free to do so, as it is very frustrating that I don't know what happened to "fix" the problem.

In preferences > Advanced > General

uncheck "Check if the tunnel use Airvpn DNS"

It is because of that option checked that very often eddie endlessly connects/disconnects with 3-2-1 and has nothing to do with your updates, just a coincidence.

UPDATE: Not working again.  The "check if the tunnel use Airvpn Dns" is already unchecked.  I also tried unchecking "check if the tunnel effectively works," and still no dice.  The connect/disconnect 3-2-1 problem is back!  Help!

Below is a cut-and-paste of my logs.  Hopefully this can help solve the problem.

Your computer is a funny.. guy. Thing. Machine. Robot.

Insufficient memory to continue the execution of the program.

What are your computer specs? Most important: How much RAM do you have?

Cannot resolve host address: localhost: No such host is known.

DNS client daemon seems to be offline here. Maybe because of insufficient RAM?

"Insufficient Memory to continue execution of program."

--WHAT'S THAT?!

That is an error message informing the user there's no RAM available to keep the application running.
