Shut off Utorrent when VPN goes down

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I know and I am sorry, this question was asked many many times before but since I am far from being an IT expert, I have not understood yet ...

So what do I have to do to solve unexpected disconnections issue when using utorrent? Do I just need to activate the "network lock" option when connecting to the client ?

Thank you !

Hello,

Yes, all you have to do is activate the "Network Lock". This feature does not close down utorrent. What it does is it stops data and internet traffic instantly when you lose your VPN connection.

I asked the staff this same question. Originally I wasn't sure the featue was working properly becasue when I disconnected with utorrent running the download/upload speed would go down slowly. The reason that happens is becasue of utorrents own weird bandwidth managment it has within the program itself. I ran a couple tests with wireshark to make 100% sure there was no data leaks after the VPN went down. There were NO leaks and the network lock works very nicley.

So, in short, just turn the "network lock" on and you should be good to go!
