Password change doesn't stop previous OpenVPN config connecting?

Hi,

 

I was just wondering why, if I change my account password the OpenVPN client can still connect with the old configuration files?

 

I thought these files would be tied to the login details when they were created.

I thought so, too. But a password change doesn't change your private key.
