DDNS and ports

Hi all, i've searched many terms on the forum and couldn't find a solution, any suggestions are welcome

 

I cannot remotely access my Calibre server (ebook management software), and Utorrent Webui while connected to AirVPN

• I have forwarded the ports on AirVPN and input them into the programs
• canyouseeme.org says those ports are open
• cannot connect via ip:port (for calibre) and ip:port/gui (for webui) - both programs are open and running
• cannot connect via AirVPN DDNS using name.airvpn.org - have waited 3 hours
• cannot connect using my no-ip ddns - correct AirVPN IP address is showing
• CAN connect via localhost:port and localhost:port/gui
• CAN connect via ip address or no-ip ddns when disabling AirVPN

i am so confused! is there something really obvious i'm missing?
