Incorrect speeds announced?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I just bought the trial run of your service, and I have some problems.

When I connect using UDP, I get very good speeds on speedtest.net (~35mbit/s down), but actual downloading is.. abysmal. Torrents go around 50-150kB/s and DDL around 500kB/s when I'm lucky.

When using TCP, I only get around 16mbit/s, but the speeds are accurate.

Is there anything I can do, or am I just out of luck and can't use your service?

I'm on OpenVPN, tried different servers over both protocols.

Have you tried forwarding a port?  Try going into the Client Area/Forwarded Ports.  Choose TCP/UDP and pick a random port number.  Then use that port number in your torrent client for incoming connections.  Ensure you also enable DHT and PeX.

Tried that, speed in the torrent client increased a bit, but only to 1.1MB/s max. Not terribly great..

If not, I had the same problem with UDP port 443, poor performance of BitTorrent-based applications. Switching to port 53 solved it for me, although Popcorn Time still isn't able to preserve constant download speed. But I believe it has something to do with the fact that public trackers blocked the servers I usually connect to.
