How I resolved my DNS leak issue, or did I?

Recommended Posts

I initially set up AirVPN last night and tested it thoroughly to see if it was masking my IP and preventing DNS leaks.  IP masking worked perfectly out of the box, however, my dns leak test continued to show my dns as the one my ISP apparently forces.  I played around with a few things and was able to plug the hole by changing my routers dns setting to an open dns and my nic's dns setting to googles at 8.8.8.8.

I then checked for DNS leaks again and it showed the DNS as being in the same area as the server I connected to through AirVPN.  Possibly my ISP is using a forced DNS and I am not sure if this actually fixed my DNS leak or it is still being forced through my ISP, even though it appears not to be.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Thanks.
