Using Chromecast while connectet with VPN

I'm using Popcorn Time but can't stream to my Chromecast while I'm connectet with the VPN. I'm using OSX Mavericks and the AirVPN Client 2.6 with the Network Lock on. Is there a solution for this problem? Thank you in advance for your response.

I believe it's a deficiency in Popcorn that can be addressed some day.  Since Popcorn is using the VPN network to stream via bittorrent, it's looking for Chromecast on the VPN network but is unable to find it.  It's strange because Popcorn does find  Chromecast before streaming (allows it's selection from streaming devices), and it almost works during streaming since it does push the title via Chromecast, but unfortunately stops there.
