Staff ---- > 2.3 Eddie linux client and UFW??

Recommended Posts

I have been fighting with something irritating for some time now.  The 2.3 linux client works slick as can be.  Since its release my dns has been in check on 14.04.  However; since a broken connection is still a "loose end" (being worked on by AIR staff) I need to protect myself from a disconnect for now.

The Eddie client immediately logs me on the host OS (14.04) and I can surf away.  BUT  --- before I do that I bring UP UFW with a simple ruleset to limit traffic to tun0 alone.  I have posted my simple scheme several times in this forum.  As soon as I enable ufw my internet activity is blocked completely.  I would assume that with my machine connected I am in the tun0 already of course.

Now the strange part.  If I disconnect the client, disable UFW, and then re-connect the client with UFW being enabled again after that it all works perfectly.

What would change by connecting two times?  It never takes three and it never allows a continued connection after the first cycle (client + ufw = 1 cycle).

btw - I never really surf from the host because I chain/TOR in VM's but I view Firefox and dnsleak in the host to confirm its connected before continuing in the circuit.  Once the host is connected (two times - ughh) all the VM's and TOR perform flawlessly.
