When I am connected to AirVPN I can’t connect to the external storage on my Western Digital My TV Media Player.

 

I must disconnect AirVPN before I can transfer files over the network.

 

Any idea why this might be?

Because when on airvpn, u are on a "vpn"  your default routes change to use the "airvpn adapter" as the default route.  You may be able to add manual routes to your routing table to your local network devices, however i caution if you are not familar with routing that this could lead to leaks.  if you are using a windows system you may also be able to add the name/ip of your WD Device to the hosts file and this may allow u to connect to it while also connected to airvpn.

 

I strongly advise caution here, adding custom changes like these can cause problems.
